Click Project management and accounting > Setup > Validation > Worker/category validation groups.

Use this form to create groups that combine workers and categories for validation.

The validation setup:

Controls access limitations. The groups that you set up in this form define which categories are available for different workers.
Must be enabled or disabled for the entire company through the validation parameter setup in the Project management and accounting parameters form.
Allows for individual workers to be exempt from validation through settings in the Project setup form.
Is applied throughout the Microsoft Dynamics AX system, such as when entries are registered in hour, cost, and inventory journals; in timesheets and expense reports; and so on.

Filters


Show	Select whether to display all workers or categories, or only those that are still active in the system.
Legal entity	Select the legal entity for which you want to view workers. If your legal entity is borrowing workers from another legal entity for project work, you can add those workers to the validation groups that you create. Note Workers can select different legal entities when they create timesheets only if intercompany timesheet support has been enabled in the legal entity by which they are employed. For more information, see Set up parameters for a timesheet system. Note This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack is installed.

Show

Select whether to display all workers or categories, or only those that are still active in the system.

Legal entity

Select the legal entity for which you want to view workers.

If your legal entity is borrowing workers from another legal entity for project work, you can add those workers to the validation groups that you create.

Note

Workers can select different legal entities when they create timesheets only if intercompany timesheet support has been enabled in the legal entity by which they are employed. For more information, see Set up parameters for a timesheet system.

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack is installed.

Tabs

Tab	Description
Worker	Select the workers to be included in the active Worker/category group by selecting the worker in the Remaining workers area and then clicking the left arrow. The selected worker is added to the Selected workers area. Remove a worker from the validation group by selecting the worker in the Selected workers area and then clicking the right arrow. The selected worker is moved to the Remaining workers area.
Categories	Select the categories to be included in the active Worker/category group by selecting the wanted category in the Remaining categories area and then clicking the left arrow. The selected category is added to the Selected categories area. Remove a category from the validation group by selecting the wanted category in the Selected categories area and then selecting the right arrow. The selected category is moved to the Remaining categories area.

Worker

Select the workers to be included in the active Worker/category group by selecting the worker in the Remaining workers area and then clicking the left arrow. The selected worker is added to the Selected workers area.

Remove a worker from the validation group by selecting the worker in the Selected workers area and then clicking the right arrow. The selected worker is moved to the Remaining workers area.

Categories

Select the categories to be included in the active Worker/category group by selecting the wanted category in the Remaining categories area and then clicking the left arrow. The selected category is added to the Selected categories area.

Remove a category from the validation group by selecting the wanted category in the Selected categories area and then selecting the right arrow. The selected category is moved to the Remaining categories area.

Fields

Field	Description
Worker/category	Enter a short, unique ID for the worker/category validation group.
Name	Enter a name for the validation group.
Selected workers	A list of workers who have been added to the selected validation group.
Remaining workers	A list of workers who are available to be added to the selected validation group.
Worker type	The classification of the worker in Microsoft Dynamics AX, such as Worker or Contractor.
Selected categories	A list of categories that have been added to the selected validation group.
Remaining categories	A list of categories that are available to be added to the selected validation group.
Transaction type	The transaction type of the category is inherited from the transaction type of the category group.
