Report servers (form)

Click System administration > Setup > Business intelligence > Reporting Services > Report servers.

Use this form to connect a Microsoft Dynamics AX Application Object Server (AOS) instance to a Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services instance.

Note

A Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or later installation may consist of multiple data partitions. One Reporting Services instance can support all of the data partitions in an installation. For more information about data partitions, see Data partitioning architecture.

New

Create a new configuration record. A configuration record contains information about the Reporting Services connection that is used by an AOS instance.

Delete

Delete the selected configuration record.

Validate settings

Verify that the AOS instance can connect to the report folder or document library that is specified in the Microsoft Dynamics AX report folder field.

Create report folder

Create a folder or document library for Microsoft Dynamics AX reports. The folder or document library that is specified in the Microsoft Dynamics AX report folder field is created.

  • If Reporting Services is running in native mode, the folder is created on the Report Manager website.

  • If Reporting Services is running in SharePoint integrated mode, the document library is created on the SharePoint website.

    Note

    SharePoint integrated mode is supported if you are using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or later.

Use default settings

Reset the Report Manager URL, Web service URL, and Microsoft Dynamics AX report folder fields to the default values.

Configuration ID

Enter a name to help identify the Reporting Services and AOS instances that you are connecting.

Description

Enter a brief description to help identify the Reporting Services and AOS instances that you are connecting.

Default configuration

Select the check box to make the Reporting Services and AOS instances that are specified in this record the active connection.

Server name

Enter the name of the server on which Reporting Services is installed.

Server instance name

Enter the name of the Reporting Services instance.

If you are using Reporting Services 2012 in SharePoint integrated mode, enter @Sharepoint.

Report Manager URL

If Reporting Services is running in native mode, enter the URL of the Report Manager website. The URL is typically http://[SSRSServerName]/Reports.

If Reporting Services is running in SharePoint integrated mode, leave this field empty.

Note

SharePoint integrated mode is supported if you are using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or later.

Web service URL

Enter the URL of the Reporting Services web service. The URL is typically http://[SSRSServerName]/ReportServer. However, if you are using Reporting Services 2012 in SharePoint integrated mode, the URL is typically http://[SharePointServerName]/_vti_bin/ReportServer or http:[SharePointServerName]/sites/[SiteName]/_vti_bin/ReportServer.

SharePoint integrated mode

Select this check box if Reporting Services is running in SharePoint integrated mode.

Note

This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.

Microsoft Dynamics AX report folder

If Reporting Services is running in native mode, enter the name of the folder that will contain Microsoft Dynamics AX reports. The folder is created on the Report Manager website.

If Reporting Services is running in SharePoint integrated mode, enter the URL of the document library that will contain Microsoft Dynamics AX reports. For example, enter http://[SharePointServerName]/sites/[SiteName]/[DocumentLibraryName]. The document library is created on the SharePoint site.

Note

SharePoint integrated mode is supported if you are using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or later.

Application Object Server name

Select an AOS instance.
