BOM designer (form)

Click Inventory management > Common > Bills of materials. Click Designer.
Use this form to design the tree structures for bills of materials (BOMs). You can create or edit BOM versions, and then assign items or sub-BOMs to specific operations.

Fields
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Item number |
A unique, user-defined code that is assigned when items are created. We recommend that you not use special characters or spaces in the item number. Item numbers can be generated by linking the item number to the Number sequences form. For more information, see Number sequences (list page). |
Search name |
Specify a name that is used for search purposes if the item number or name does not work well for searches. |
Item group |
The item group that the item belongs to. All items must belong to an item group, which is assigned when items are created. Item groups are defined in the Item group form. Item groups are used together with ledger transactions, and they can be used as printing criteria. For more information, see Item group (form). |
Type |
Shows the symbol that is assigned to the BOM line. |
Site |
Select the site for the BOM line. |
Display principle |
Select the display principle that is used for the tree structure window:

Version date |
Enter the version date for the BOM and route. This value is used to identify which BOM version must be used on a specific date, as determined by the version dates in the setup of the BOM version. |
From qty. |
Enter the minimum quantity that is valid for this BOM version. When orders are generated, a BOM version is selected by the system based on the value in this field and other criteria that you specify. If you leave the field blank, this BOM version is valid for all quantities. |
Show valid only |
Select to display only valid BOM lines in the tree structure. The validity of BOM lines is determined by the validity dates for the BOM lines. To view the validity dates for a BOM line, right-click or double-click the line. |
Item number |
Select to display item numbers on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Configuration |
Select to display the configuration ID on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Size |
Select to display the item size on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Color |
Select to display the item color on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Product name |
Select to display item names on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Qty. |
Select to display item quantities on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Unit |
Select to display the unit in which the item is expressed on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Configuration group |
Select to display the configuration group on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
From date |
Select to display the date from which the BOM line is valid on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
To date |
Select to display the last day that the BOM line is valid on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Sub-BOM |
Select to display sub-BOMs on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Subroute |
Select to display sub-routes on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |

Select to display operation numbers on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Line type |
Select to display information about the line type on the BOM lines in the tree structure. |
Confirm deletion |
Select to add a confirmation step to the delete function. |
Edit when adding |
Select to open the Edit BOM line form when you add items to the tree structure. |
Max. qty. of levels |
Specify the maximum number of levels that are printed. |
