Upgrading Windows SharePoint Services to Office SharePoint Server 2007

This Office product will reach end of support on October 10, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see , Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

If your Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 farm is currently based on Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, you can easily upgrade to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. For detailed information about how to upgrade, see Upgrade from Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

Office SharePoint Server 2007 offers additional functionality that is not available in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. This includes:

  • Excel Services

  • Search

  • Infopath Forms Services

  • Business Data Catalog

These additional features consume more system resources and can affect the performance of your farm. If you plan to take advantage of these features, we recommend that you analyze the current capacity of your farm and determine if you need additional system resources to efficiently run the new features that you plan to deploy.
