The Retail Software Development Kit (SDK) includes code samples, templates, and tools that you can use to customize Retail clients for Microsoft Dynamics AX. For information about installing the Retail SDK, see Install Retail SDK (Retail POS Plug-ins).

Retail SDK contents

After you install the Retail SDK, the following folders and files are copied to your Documents folder:

Description

Commerce Run-time

Contains samples, source code, and binaries that you use to create an extensible online store for Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail. For more information, see Commerce Runtime.

HardwareStation

Contains source code that you can use to enable peripherals in the store, such as mobile POS clients, cash drawers, and credit card terminals, to communicate with Retail Server and Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Online Channel

Contains demo data and all the files needed to extend the sample online store. For more information, see Online Store.

POS Clients

Contains sample code that you can use to create custom POS clients. For more information, see Retail Modern Point of Sale.

The Retail Modern POS is comprised of pre-release components.  All pre-release features and functionality are preliminary based on current expectations, and are subject to change without notice.

POS Plug-ins

Contains code that you use to extend and customize Retail POS. For more information, see Point of Sale.

RetailServer

Contains samples, source code, and binaries that you can use to customize retail server. For more information, see Microsoft Dynamics AX Retail Server and Retail Modern Point of Sale.

Scaleout Deployment

Contains source code that helps you customize your deployment strategy. For more information, see Mass deploy Retail components by using System Center Configuration Manager.

Online Channel\Connector

Contains source code for the job that publishes catalogs to the online store.

Online Channel\DemoData

Contains source code for demo data, including images.

Online Channel\References

Contains DLL files for the online sample store and output of the builds for projects included in the Retail SDK.

Online Channel\Storefront

Contains source code for the Retail online sample store.

Online Channel\Tools

Contains source code for three tools:

  • Cleanup

  • ConfigurationUpdater

  • PublishingConfig
