In versions of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 prior to AX 2012 R3, info codes in Retail were called reason codes. This topic refers to info codes, but the information also pertains to Retail reason codes in earlier versions of AX 2012, unless otherwise indicated.

The text that is displayed on the point of sale (POS) register to prompt the cashier to enter an info code.

Input type

Select the type of input that the cashier must enter to respond to the prompt. Input types are used to validate the data that the cashier enters. Select from the following options:

  • Subcode list – The cashier calls a function by selecting it in a list. The functions are defined in the Trigger function column in the Information subcodes form. Select this option if there are more than five prompts and calls.

  • Date – The cashier enters a date. The date must be entered in the format MM/DD/YY.

  • Staff – The cashier enters his or her operator ID. The operator ID is not displayed but is stored in the database.

  • Text – The cashier enters informational text.

  • Subcode buttons – The cashier calls a function by clicking a button. The functions are defined in the Trigger function column in the Information subcodes form. Select this option if there are five or fewer prompts and calls.
