Remote Storage

Remote Storage allows you to extend disk space on your server using a tape or magneto-optical disk library. Remote Storage manages the disk volumes on your server and automatically copies infrequently-used files to a tape or disk library. When the amount of free disk space falls below the defined level, Remote Storage then frees up the space on your disks.

Remote Storage is not included on Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition. If you are using Windows 2000 Server with Remote Storage, you cannot upgrade to Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition. You can upgrade to Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, because Remote Storage is included in this product.
