Computer management capabilities in Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune as a standalone service offers these features for managing computers. Devices that run Windows 8.1 can be managed using the Intune client or they can be enrolled as mobile devices. The information below applies to computers that run the Intune client. For information about mobile device management capabilities, see Mobile Device Management Capabilities in Microsoft Intune.

You can deploy software to your managed computers in a variety of different formats like a Windows Installer, or Windows app package file. You can also deploy links to applications in a store, or links to Web applications.

Intune gives you simple tools that help you to keep your Microsoft and non-Microsoft software up to date from the Microsoft Intune administrator console.

Intune collects information about the hardware configuration, and software installed on your managed computers. You can use this information to generate reports, organize groups of computers, and more effectively target deployments.

Endpoint Protection in Intune gives you the tools to manage security and malware on your managed computers. You can configure antimalware policies, update schedules for definitions, and take action from the Microsoft Intune administrator console when malware attacks are detected.

You can use policies to configure Windows Firewall setting on your managed computers.

Intune includes the Microsoft Easy Assist agent which allows the users of managed computers to request assistance from you.
