Check enrollment status

All servers in the RMS cluster must be enrolled with the Microsoft Enrollment Service before moving to AD RMS. When an RMS server is enrolled, the server licensor certificate of the RMS cluster is signed by the Microsoft Enrollment Service. If your RMS server is connected to the Internet, the RMS cluster is enrolled by using online enrollment. If your server is not connected to the Internet, you must do offline enrollment.

To enroll the RMS server offline

  1. Log on to one server in the RMS cluster with a user account that is a member of the local Administrators group.

  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Windows RMS, and then click Windows RMS Administration.

  3. Click Administer RMS on this Web site.

  4. Click Enroll.

  5. Click the Offline option, and then click Export.

  6. Save or transfer the exported enrollment request to a computer that has Internet connectivity.

  7. On the computer with Internet connectivity, open Internet Explorer, and go to the Rights Management Services Offline RMS Server Enrollment site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=25828).

  8. On the Offline WRMS Server Enrollment Web site, click Browse, browse to the enrollment request, and then click OK.

  9. Click Submit.

  10. Click Save, and then save or transfer ServerCert.xml to the RMS server.

  11. On the RMS server, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Windows RMS, and then click Windows RMS Administration.

  12. Click Administer RMS on this Web site.

  13. Click Enroll, and then click Browse.

  14. Navigate to ServerCert.xml, and then click Open.

  15. Click Import, click OK, and then click Close.
