Change Default Configuration Values for Triggers

You can use this procedure to change the default configuration values for Message Queuing triggers.

Membership in the local Users group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To change the default configuration values for Message Queuing triggers

  1. Click Start, point to Run, type compmgmt.msc, and press ENTER to display the Computer Management MMC console.

  2. In the console tree, click to expand Message Queuing, and then right-click Triggers.

  3. Click Properties, and then change the values in Initial number of threads, Max number of threads, and Default message body size as needed.

Note

The monitored queue of an existing trigger cannot be changed.

Additional considerations

  • All configuration information as well as trigger and rule definitions are stored in the local registry.

  • The Default message body value is the size of the buffer that the Message Queuing Triggers service will allocate for an incoming message. It is recommended that this value be set equal to a size that will accommodate 90% of all messages that are expected to arrive in monitored queues. If this value is set too small, it will force the service to reallocate these buffers for every message. If it is set too large, an excessive amount of memory will be allocated.
