Firewall Rule Properties - General

This view shows the following information for an inbound or outbound firewall rule that is being applied to the computer:

  • Local IP address This lists the local IP address, range of addresses, or subnet to which the rule applies.

  • Remote IP address This lists the remote IP address, range of addresses, or subnet to which the rule applies.

  • Protocol This indicates the protocol type to which the rule applies.

  • Local port If the rule applies to UDP or TCP messages, this indicates the UDP or TCP port to which the rule applies, on the computer where the firewall rule is applied.

  • Remote port If the rule applies to UDP or TCP messages, this indicates the UDP or TCP port to which the rule applies, on the computer that is attempting to communicate with the computer where the firewall rule is applied.

  • Direction This indicates whether the rule is an inbound (In) or outbound (Out) rule.

  • ICMP settings If the rule applies to Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMPv4 or ICMPv6) messages, this indicates the ICMP type and code.

  • Application This indicates the program file name and path of the application to which the rule applies.

  • Service This indicates the service to which the rule applies.
