Delete an Information Card

Applies To: Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) 2.0, Windows 7, Windows Vista

Deleting an Information Card removes that card from your card collection in Windows CardSpace 2.0, along with all the stored data and settings for that card.

Deleting Information Cards

To delete one or more Information Cards, complete the following procedure.

To delete an Information Card

  1. Open CardSpace 2.0. To open CardSpace 2.0, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Windows CardSpace 2.0.

  2. Select the card that you want to delete. To select multiple cards, press and hold the CTRL key, and then click all the cards that you want to select for deletion. Release the CTRL key.

  3. After you select a card, click Delete Card. This permanently deletes the selected card or cards and all their associated settings from your computer.

Warning

Deleted Information Cards are permanently removed from CardSpace 2.0.

As a result of deleting an Information Card, you may lose access to some of your online accounts. Because some websites use card-specific information to associate your Information Card with your account, getting another instance of the same card might not help. In these cases, most sites have an alternative way to authenticate, and they should allow you to reassociate a new instance of the card with your account. This is similar, in concept, to resetting a forgotten password.
