Applies To: Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials

Before you can access the digital media that is shared with a homegroup, you must join your computer to the homegroup. For more information about adding your computer to a homegroup, see How can I join Windows 7 computers to the homegroup?.

To download media files that are shared with a homegroup

  1. Click the Start button, and then click your user name to open your personal folder.

  2. In Homegroup section of the navigation pane, click the name of your homegroup.

  3. In the file list, double-click the library you want to access, and then select the files or folders you want to download. Click Organize, and then click Copy.

  4. In the navigation pane, select a location on your computer for the downloaded files. Click Organize, and then click Paste.

Note

  • Computers that are turned off, hibernating, or sleeping do not appear in the navigation pane.

  • If you have made homegroup files or folders available offline, and then you disconnect from the network, the files or folders will no longer be visible in your Libraries window. To find them, open the Network folder.
