Disable server backup

Applies To: Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials

You should protect your server and its data automatically by scheduling daily backups. It is recommended that you maintain a daily backup plan because most organizations cannot afford to lose the data that has been created over several days. However, you can disable Windows® Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials server backup if you are using a third-party application to back up the server.

To disable server backup

  1. Log on to the Windows® Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials Dashboard using an administrator account and password.

  3. In the Task pane, click Customize Backup for the server.

  4. The Customize Server Backup wizard starts.

  5. On the Configuration Options page, click Disable Server Backup. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
