How to: Format a Number Field (Report Builder)

Formatting for numerical data can be specified using the Format dialog box. Depending on the format type you select, which options you can specify changes. In addition to the options available, you can choose to customize the formatting by using a valid Microsoft .NET Framework format string. For more information about valid .NET Framework format strings, see the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN).

To format numerical data

  1. In design mode, select the cells containing the numerical data that you want to format.

  2. On the Format menu, click Number.

    The Format dialog box opens with the Number tab selected.

  3. In the Defined formats list, select a Format type.

    Depending on the format type that you select, the options on the right change.

    Note

    You can customize a format by selecting the Custom format radio button and then specifying a valid .NET Framework format string.

  4. Specify the options that you want to use with the selected format type.

  5. Click OK.
