Linear Scale Properties Dialog Box, Major Tick Marks

Click Major Tick Marks on the Linear Scale Properties dialog box to define the appearance of tick marks on the scale of an individual linear gauge. Major tick marks are marks placed on the values between intervals on the scale of a gauge.

By default, gauges calculate the intervals automatically based on the minimum and maximum of the scale. If you specify an interval, this value will be used to determine how many tick marks are on the gauge. An interval offset is a constant value that is added to the interval on the scale. For example, suppose your scale goes from 0 to 100, with an interval of 10. This means major tick marks will be shown at intervals of 10 starting at 0, for example 0, 10, 20, and so on. If the interval offset is 5, major tick marks will be offset from their original position by a value of 5. This means major tick marks are displayed at 5, 15, 25, etc.

Options

  • Hide major tick marks
Select this option to hide major tick marks on a gauge. When major tick marks are hidden, only value labels are displayed at intervals on the scale.

  • Major tick mark shape
Select a shape for the tick marks.

  • Major tick mark placement
Select the placement of each tick mark on the scale.

    • Inside   Major tick marks are placed inside the scale bar, facing towards the center of the scale.

    • Outside  Major tick marks are placed outside the scale bar, facing away from the center of the scale.

    • Cross   Major tick marks are placed across the scale bar.

  • Width
Specify the width of the tick marks on the scale.

  • Length
Specify the length of each tick mark on the scale.

  • Interval
Specify the interval between major tick marks on the scale.

  • Interval offset
Specify an a constant value which will be added to each interval on the scale.
