The Global Resources node contains the resources that are available for all sites. A global resource is an entity that provides functionality to Commerce Server 2009 R2 applications. Commerce Server 2009 R2 provides the following global resources:

  • CS Authentication. Configures the authentication and identification method for your Commerce Server 2009 R2 site when you use the deprecated AuthManager or AuthFilter methods. When you use Commerce Server Membership Provider for authenticating users, then the CS Authentication resource is not used. Commerce Server 2009 R2 installs this resource when you unpack a site.

  • Data Warehouse. Imports and manages Web site data from Web log files, Commerce Server 2009 R2 databases, and other data sources. This is an optional global resource. If the Data Warehouse is not installed, you can install it by using Commerce Server Site Packager and selecting the DW.pup package.

  • Direct Mailer. Sends personalized or non-personalized mailings to large groups of recipients. This is an optional global resource. If you have not installed Direct Mailer, you can install and configure it by using the Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2 Installation Wizard and Commerce Server 2009 R2 Configuration Wizard.

  • Profiles. Creates data sources for storing profile data, and creates and stores profile definitions and properties. Commerce Server 2009 R2 installs this resource when you unpack a site.

    Note

Do not delete global resources by using Commerce Server Manager. If you accidentally delete a resource by using the MMC, you can recreate it by using the corresponding tool noted above.
