Edit Target Expression Screen

Use the Edit Target Expression screen to change or refine target expressions you use to target ads, discounts, or direct mails to customers who have specific characteristics.

Target expressions can also target request context. For example, target expressions can target the Web site from which the customer is visiting, the current page group, the time of day, or an HTTP cookie.

To do this

Expression Name

Type a name for the new target expression.

Field

Select the field that you want to use in this condition from the drop-down list. Available types of fields are as follows:

  • Targeting Context.<Property>. Properties that have been created for the Targeting Context profile, such as the Unique ID and Page Group properties.

  • User Object.<Property>. User properties that you use to specify the users to whom you want to target. User objects are properties such as User ID or First Name.

  • Time Context.<Timeframe>. Timeframes you use for the expression such as Month or Year.

  • Expression. A condition that is evaluated against profiles to determine whether to deliver content or perform another action.

    Expressions only appear if they were created before you open the Edit Target Expressions screen.

And/Or

Select And or Or from the drop-down list to start the next clause in your expression.

Condition

Select an operator type for the expression from the drop-down list.

Available types of conditions are operators such as Is equal to and Is greater than.

Value

Type the property or value to be evaluated by the target expression.

Add

Click to add an additional And/Or condition to the expression.

Remove

Click to remove the selected condition(s) from the expression.

Remove All

Click to remove all condition(s) from the expression.
