IIS Metabase Staging Options

You use the Internet Information Services (IIS) metabase staging project to replicate metabase settings from one Web server to another. This option forces deployment of settings in the IIS metabase. Server-specific settings in the metabase, such as IP addresses, are not replicated.

Note

All IIS metabase staging projects must be created manually. The New Project Wizard does not support the creation of IIS metabase projects. The project must be created on each source and destination server. For information about how to create IIS metabase projects, see How to Create a Project for Staging the IIS Metabase.

The following sections summarize the options that are unique to staging the IIS metabase:

  • Staging Topology Options

  • Scheduling Options

For information about options that are common to all staging projects, see the following topics:

Staging Topology Options

The IIS metabase can be staged across the following network topologies:

  • Point to point.

  • Point to multipoint.

For information about these topologies, see IIS Metabase Staging Topologies.

Scheduling Options

IIS metabase staging scheduling options are as follows:

  • Manual replication. To replicate content manually, select the project from the Commerce Server Staging console and issue the Start command. You can then repeat this procedure for every replication of that content.

  • Set schedule. To replicate content according to a set schedule, you define a schedule for the project and issue the Start command. The content is replicated when the schedule specifies. Available schedules include daily, weekly, or one time only. You can add multiple schedules to a project.
