How to Create a Customer

You can create a new customer for a marketing campaign by using the Create New Customer Wizard. If you select the Do not show this wizard again option in the Create New Customer Wizard after you create the first customer, or if you select the Hide All Wizards option in the Options dialog box, you can create a new customer by using the Customer Properties screens that you access from the Marketing Manager, Tasks pane.

To start the Create New Customer Wizard

  1. To open Marketing Manager, click Start, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 , and then click Marketing Manager.

  2. In Marketing Manager, in the Views pane, click Campaigns.

  3. In the Tree View pane, click All Customers.

    Note

    If you cannot see the Tree View pane, click Tree View on the toolbar.

  4. In the Task pane, click Create New Customer.

  5. On the Welcome to the New Customer Wizard page, click Next.

To add customer information

  1. On the Customer Properties page, do the following:

    Customer Name

    Type the customer name.

    Type

    Select the type of relationship you have with the customer from the drop-down list. The types of relationships are as follows:

    • Advertiser

    • Agency

    • Self

    Industry ID

    Select the type of industry for the customer from the drop-down list.

    You create industry codes in the Reference Tables section in the Marketing Manager.

    Comments

    Type any required comments about the customer.

  2. Click Next.

To add customer contact information

  1. On the Customer Contact page, do the following:

    To do this

    Address

    Type the address information for the customer.

    URL

    Type the URL associated with the customer.

    Contact

    Type the contact information for the customer.

    Email

    Type the e-mail address for the contact.

    Phone

    Type the telephone number for the contact.

    Fax

    Type the fax number for the contact.

  2. Click Next.

To confirm the customer properties and complete the Create New Customer Wizard

  1. On the Customer Summary page, review the customer properties. To change any customer property value, click Back. To create the new customer, click Create.

  2. On the Completing the New Customer Wizard page, click Finish.

To create a new customer by using the Customer Properties screens

  1. To open Marketing Manager, click Start, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 , and then click Marketing Manager.

  2. In Marketing Manager, in the Views pane, click Campaigns.

  3. In the Tree View pane, click All Customers.

    Note

    If you cannot see the Tree View pane, click Tree View on the toolbar.

  4. In the Task pane, click Create New Customer.

    If you selected the Do not show this wizard again option in the Create New Customer Wizard, the Customer Properties screen opens.

  5. In the Customer Properties screen, on the Base Properties tab, do the following:

    Customer Name

    Type the customer name.

    Type

    Select the type of relationship you have with the customer from the drop-down list. The types of relationships are as follows:

    • Advertiser

    • Agency

    • Self

    Industry ID

    Select the type of industry for the customer from the drop-down list.

    You create industry codes in the Reference Tables section in the Marketing Manager.

    Comments

    Type any required comments about the customer.

  6. On the Contact Information tab, do the following:

    Address

    Type the address information for the customer, including street address, city, state, zip or postal code, and country/region.

    URL

    Type the URL associated with the customer.

    Contact

    Type the contact information for the customer.

    Email

    Type the e-mail address for the contact.

    Phone

    Type the telephone number for the contact.

    Fax

    Type the fax number for the contact.

  7. Click Save and close on the toolbar.
