Replicating Materialized Virtual Catalogs

Materialized virtual catalogs offer a performance improvement on production servers but pose a problem for replication.

Each time a materialized virtual catalog is rebuilt (to have updates to source catalogs or virtual catalog rules reflected when viewing the virtual catalog), the materialized data tables for that virtual catalog are deleted and re-created. When this happens, any replication configured on those tables will break. For this reason, virtual catalogs should not be marked as materialized on staging (publishing) servers.

If you want to materialize virtual catalogs on your production database servers for the performance gain, you should exclude their associated tables from the replication.
