Step 2: Verifying that the test mail was sent

In Lab 1: Setting up Direct Mailer, you specified that the e-mail messages be dropped to a drop directory. You can test to verify that the e-mail was sent to the DML drop directory on your server.

  1. Navigate to the DML_drop directory on your server. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to <drive letter:>\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server 2002\DML_drop. The file with the extension ".eml" containing the direct mail message appears.
  2. To view the test e-mail, double-click the .eml files.

The test mail should resemble the following e-mail:

In this test mail, the UserID is retrieved from the AuthManager object, and the UserObject profile is retrieved from the profile service.
