Viewing Dynamic Reports

You view a completed dynamic report as a PivotTable or PivotChart in a browser window. You can also use the drillthrough report feature in dynamic OLAP reports to view the detailed data for a cell.

The drillthrough report feature is enabled for the Product Sales report and the Shopping Basket Events report. Your system administrator configures the drillthrough feature for additional reports, and also configures the limits for a maximum number of records. Your system administrator can adjust the number of records by changing constant values specified in the file drillthrough.htc. For more information, see Enabling Drillthrough Dynamic Reports in Commerce Server 2002 Help.

  • To use the drillthrough feature, you must have Microsoft Office 2002 XP installed on your local computer.
  • Microsoft Office XP Web Components and the support files that include the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 and pivot table services are required to run the dynamic reports in Analysis. Installing Microsoft Office XP, Microsoft Excel XP, Microsoft Access XP, or Microsoft FrontPage XP automatically installs the Microsoft Office XP Web Components and all of the required support files. If you have already installed Microsoft Office XP or any of the applications listed previously, you do not need to install the Microsoft Office XP Web Components, which are included on the Commerce Server 2002 CD.

To view your dynamic report as a PivotChart, you select from a number of charts and properties by using the toolbar buttons provided in the PivotChart. For example, you can select a bar chart, a pie chart, or a bubble chart.

  • When you modify the data or layout in the PivotChart or the PivotTable, the data changes in both views.
  • Distinct count measures cannot be totaled if a filter dimension has been defined for the report that contains multiple selected items. The pivot control cannot calculate the number of distinct entities resulting from the union of multiple sets of data defined by the filter. If a report is filtered in this way, cells containing distinct count measures are displayed as #VALUE!. A filter dimension must be defined to include either a single member or all members in order to display the distinct count measure.
