Creating Envelopes on the Source Server

An envelope contains a header and sometimes a footer that prefixes or encapsulates electronic business data for transporting the data to a destination organization. BizTalk Server 2000 uses the envelope properties specified in a messaging port to determine the envelope format that is used to prepare documents for transport.

To create an envelope for the source server

  1. On the source BizTalk Server, click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000, and then click BizTalk Messaging Manager.

  2. In BizTalk Messaging Manager, on the File menu, point to New, and then click Envelope.

  3. In the NewEnvelope dialog box, in the Envelope name box, type the name of the envelope (for example, POEnvelope), and then click OK.

If you do not assign a custom Extensible Markup Language (XML) file to the envelope you just created, then the default XML file is assigned to the envelope.
