Lesson 1: Importing Your Log File Data

This lesson must be performed by a system administrator, or someone who has access to the Commerce Server computer and SQL Server Enterprise Manager. If you are not the system administrator, contact the system administrator to perform the steps in this lesson for you. When the steps in this lesson are completed, you can then proceed to Lesson 2 of this lab.

In the first two labs of this tutorial, data was collected in the log files for your site. This data was collected by Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). In this lesson, you will import log file data into the Data Warehouse, thus making the data available to the business manager to run reports using Business Desk.

In this lesson, a system administrator will perform the following steps:

• Step 1: Synchronizing the Data Warehouse with your application
• Step 2: Importing the Web log files
• Step 3: Importing the profile user data
• Step 4: Populating the OLAP cubes with the imported data
• Step 5: Executing the DTS tasks
