Custom Authentication with Autocookie Mode

When you use Custom Authentication and Autocookie mode together, both registered and anonymous users can access the site, and you can track anonymous users through persistent cookies. Instead of controlling access through Windows access control lists (ACLs), you can supply a custom authentication process.

To enable Custom Authentication with Autocookie mode

1. Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Commerce Sites, and then click the site you want to administer.
2. Expand Applications, right-click the name of the application that you want to work with, and then click Properties.
3. In the Properties dialog box, on the General tab, select Autocookie.
4. In the Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Authentication filter box, select Custom Authentication, and then click OK.

Note

• On the login page, provide a link to a separate virtual directory root that is not under the current virtual directory root. Keep all of the anonymous access content under this separate virtual directory root.
