Multilanguage Features

Text information in the site comes from several sources:

  • Catalog data
  • User interface text
  • Graphics that contain bitmapped text

Each of these elements must be managed to fully internationalize a site.

To do this, the site takes full advantage of the multilanguage features of Commerce Server 2002 catalogs. Catalogs, categories, and products have display names for each language in the catalog. See Multilingual Catalogs for more information.

The site also contains string resource files (ResX) for each language supported by the site. Adding a new language is as simple as translating the ResX file and adding the translated file to the site. See Localizing Web Site Text for more information.

Providing localized graphics is similar to skinning the site. See Page Authoring for more information.
