Processing Orders

The following figure shows the components of the Order Processing Pipeline and how they interact when a user adds an item to a basket, and then proceeds to check out, receives a discount, and saves the order to the transactions tables in the Commerce Server database (or Orders database in a distributed environment).

If your site uses BizTalk Server, the order can be sent to a vendor to be filled. For detailed information about using BizTalk Server with Commerce Server, see "Integrating with BizTalk Server" in Commerce Server 2002 Help.

You use the Commerce Server Pipeline Editor to modify the Order Processing pipeline to meet the needs of your site. For example, you can add third-party credit credit components that validate the credit card.
