Next Steps in Integrating with Passport

In order to successfully integrate Passport Single Sign In authentication service or the Passport Express Purchase service into a Commerce Server Web site, you will need to do the following:

  • Use the Passport Web site to learn more about Passport and the services it provides. The site has white papers, demonstrations, implementation guides, sample code, as well as information about the Passport discussion group and how to direct questions to the Passport team.
  • Sign up as a Passport site at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=6740. After you have done this, you can download the Passport Software Development Kit (SDK) and study its capabilities in more detail.
  • Make sure your Web site conforms to the standards required for participation in Passport Web sites. These standards concern privacy, security, and so on.
  • If you intend to use the Passport Express Purchase service, obtain a certificate from an authorized Certification Authority. Since the Passport Express Purchase service uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology for security, a certificate is required.
  • Study the Passport Sitelet source code supplied in the Commerce Server SDK. For more information, see the Software Development Kit.
