Deleting Generic Profiles

You use the Profile Editor module to remove existing profiles from the Commerce Server database.

You must have access to the Profiles modules to make changes to site terms, profile definitions, and profiles. For information about Business Desk permissions, see About Business Desk Security.

To delete the contents of a property that is defined as a Join key that has been used to collect data you first delete the database column that the property is mapped to.

  • A generic profile that has been deleted cannot be recovered.

To delete a generic profile

To delete a generic profile

  1. In Profiles, click Profile Editor.

  2. In the Profiles screen, select the profile definition that contains the profile you want to delete, and then click**Open** on the toolbar.

  3. Select the profile you want to delete, and then click Delete on the toolbar.

    • To display a particular profile, you use the Find pane at the top of the <Profile type> screen. For information about finding a generic profile, see Finding a Generic Profile.
  4. In the Delete dialog box, click Yes to delete the profile.

    The profile is deleted.

  5. To return to the Profiles screen, click Back on the toolbar.

To delete multiple generic profiles

  • If you click Select All to select all generic profiles in the Filtered View list, only the generic profiles on the current screen (a maximum of 20 generic profiles per screen) are selected.
  1. In Profiles, click Profile Editor.

  2. In the Profiles screen, select the profile definition that contains the generic profiles you want to delete, and then click Open on the toolbar.

  3. In the <profile definition> screen, select the generic profiles you want to delete, and then click**Delete** on the toolbar.

    • To select all of the generic profiles in the Filtered View list, click Select All. To deselect the generic profiles in the Filtered View list, click Deselect All.
    • If you click Select All to select all generic profiles in the Filtered View list, only the generic profiles on the current screen (a maximum of 20 generic profiles per screen) are selected.
  4. In the Delete dialog box, click Yes to delete the selected generic profiles.

    The generic profiles are deleted.

  5. To return to the Profiles screen, click Back on the toolbar.

To delete an embedded generic profile

  1. In Profiles, click Profile Editor.
  2. In the Profiles screen, select the profile definition that contains the embedded profile you want to delete, and then click**Open** on the toolbar.
  3. In the <profile definition> screen, select the user profile that contains the embedded profile you want to delete, and then click**Open** on the toolbar.
  4. In the Update Profile: <generic profile> screen, open the drop-down list of the property that contains the profile you want to delete, and then select Remove profile reference.
  5. In the Delete dialog box, click Yes to delete the embedded user profile.
  6. To save the updated profile and return to the <profile definition> screen, click Save and go back on the toolbar.
  7. To return to the Profiles screen, click Back

The profile is saved, and the embedded profile is deleted from the Profiles database.
