Setting Up Your Development Workstation
The hardware requirements for setting up a Commerce Server 2000 development workstation are the same as for a production server with the exception that a development workstation with 128 MB of RAM is generally adequate. For more information, see Hardware Requirements.
Install Commerce Server on development workstations using the normal installation process. You can perform a custom installation if you want to limit how much of Commerce Server is installed.
In addition, an integrated development environment such as Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0, and specifically Microsoft Visual InterDev (VID), is recommended for the actual development and debugging work involved. Note that you must apply VID Service Pack 4 (SP4) if you choose to use VID. Other debugging tools could also prove useful. For more information, see Debugging.
