Unpacking process fails when using a renamed application

Commerce Server 2002

If you unpack a solution site, rename it, repackage the renamed application, and then unpack the renamed application, the unpacking process fails.

Solution

Use the Custom Unpack option when you unpack the renamed application. In the Select IIS Computers, Web Sites and Paths dialog box, in the IIS Web site box, rename the Internet Information Server (IIS) virtual directory application. This creates an application with a different name.

  • The virtual directory name of the application must be exactly the same in both Commerce Server Manager and IIS. For example, if you have a Retail application under the Default Web site in IIS, the virtual directory name in Commerce Server Manager must be /Retail.
