Pricing Products in a Category

You can set a single price for all the products in the same category. This is useful, for example, when a range of products fall in the same pricing range. You can use this to change the price for the whole group of products in one place instead of changing each product price individually.

Each category and product can have one primary parent category. The primary parent category provides a canonical path to a child category or product. In addition, if a product is in more than one category, and pricing is set at the category level, the price of the primary parent category overrides the price in all other categories.

Pricing products based on a category only applies if you have set the products to use category pricing. There are two options when you set pricing for the primary parent:

  • Use Category Pricing. To use category pricing, you must set the products you want to reflect the category price.
  • Use Direct Pricing. To use its own price, you use direct pricing

  • Assigning a price at the category level will override prices of all the products and product variants in that category.
