Adding a Language to a Catalog

When you create a base catalog, you specify which languages are supported by the catalog. You specify the following:

  • Default language. If you do not specify a default language for a catalog, Commerce Server uses the same language as the Microsoft Windows operating system on the Business Desk Web server.

  • Reporting language. Specify the language from the catalog that should be used to populate the Data Warehouse. This is the language that will appear on reports.

If you change the reporting language, the next time your system administrator imports catalog data into the Data Warehouse, it will use the new language. This may result in some data in the Data Warehouse being in one language and other data being in another language.

Your system administrator must perform a full import using the Product catalog data import Data Transformation Services (DTS) task so all the data is the in same language. (Full import will update the properties of the product because the product keys are the same in any language.)

After you create a catalog, you can add more languages to it at any time.
