Refreshing and Publishing a Catalog

You use the Catalog Editor module to update your site with new information that you have added to your Web site. In most e-commerce businesses, these changes are first made to a test site, and then at scheduled times, the changes are published to a production site. Contact your system administrator for information about when and how changes are made to your production site.

When you refresh and publish a catalog, you also automatically update the full-text index. The full-text index is that portion of a catalog that stores all of the full-text words and their locations for a given table. When you change a catalog (such as adding or removing products, or changing the values of free text searchable fields), you must update the full-text index to reflect the changes so the search features work correctly.

To refresh and publish your catalogs

  1. In Catalogs, click CatalogEditor.
  2. In the Catalogs screen, click Publish a catalog on the toolbar.

Your updated catalogs are published on your Web site, and then all catalog caches are refreshed.
