Name restrictions for IIS applications as created by Pup.exe

There are name restrictions on Internet Information Services (IIS) applications if you use the custom path in Site Packager to unpack the site. You cannot use a name that matches the programmatic reference name of any known resources, or any other resources found in the package.

Solution

Below is the list of known resources that are blocked:

  • App Default Config
  • Transactions
  • Transaction Config
  • Campaigns
  • Product Catalog
  • Direct Mail
  • Predictor
  • Site Data Warehouse
  • Global Data Warehouse
  • BDSecurity
  • Biz Data Service
  • Site CS Authentication

In addition to these resources, which are hard-coded in the product, any other resources that are contained in the package the user is attempting to unpack will also be blocked, including some third-party names. Unfortunately there is no way to know ahead of time what these names are.
