Using Active Directory Groups to Manage User Access to Your Site

Commerce Server Business Desk provides the Group Manager module for managing user membership in Active Directory groups. The Group Manager module requires the following:

  • Your site and Business Desk are based on the SupplierActiveDirectory Solution Site.
  • You map at least one property of the User Object profile definition to an Active Directory data source.
  • You create Active Directory groups in Commerce Server Manager with Windows Active Directory Group Manager.

You use Active Directory Group Manager to create Active Directory groups for which you specify site access rights. The business manager uses the Business Desk Group Manager module to add and remove users from the Active Directory groups. When a user is added to an Active Directory group, the user has the level of access to your site that is specified for that Active Directory group.

For information about creating Active Directory Groups, see Microsoft Windows Help.
