Delete Task Dialog Box

The Data deletion DTS task deletes data from the Data Warehouse. You can select to delete detailed log file data for a specified site, or for all of the sites associated with the Data Warehouse.

In addition, you can delete log file data to reduce the size of the Data Warehouse. Or, you can delete all data from the Data Warehouse, for example, if you have imported test data and want to empty the Data Warehouse before importing valid data.

The following table shows the options and functions available in the Delete Task dialog box.

Box To do this
Description Type a description for the import task. The maximum number of characters for the description is 255 characters.
Operation level Select Site level from the drop-down list to delete Web log files for the specified site only.

Select Data warehouse level to delete Web log files for all of the sites associated with the Data Warehouse.

Site Select the site from the drop-down list for which you want to delete Web log file data.
Data Warehouse name Select from the drop-down list the Data Warehouse from which you want to delete Web log file data.
Select delete type Select the delete type from the drop-down list:
  • All. Deletes all data (detailed and summarized) from the Data Warehouse. Select this option when you have imported test data and want to empty the Data Warehouse before importing valid data.
  • Web Log Imports. Deletes data from selected Web log files. Select this option to reduce the size of the Data Warehouse.
Delete level Select All data to delete both summary and detail data imported from the selected Web log files.

Select Detail data to delete only detailed data imported from the selected Web log files.

Logs to delete Select from the drop-down list which log files you want to delete:
  • Select specific Web log imports to delete. After you select this option, select the Web log files you want to delete from those listed.
  • Keep a number of current Web log imports. After you select this option, specify the number of current log files to keep.
  • Delete Web log imports by time. After you select this option, specify whether you want to delete log files older than a day, week, month, or year.
Number of retries Type the number of times you want the task to retry connection failures to the Data Warehouse. The default number of retry attempts is 10 times.
Seconds between retries Type the number of seconds you want the task to wait between retry attempts. The default time interval is 30 seconds.
