Using Display Languages (POSReady 7)

4/29/2013

Use the following procedures to install language packs and resources for Windows Embedded POSReady 7.

Install a Display Language

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  2. Select Region and Language.

  3. Select the Keyboards and Languages tab.

  4. Click Install/uninstall languages…

  5. Select Yes to allow changes to this computer in the User Account Control dialog box.

  6. Select Install display languages.

  7. Choose Browse computer or network.

    Note

POSReady 7 does not support obtaining display languages through Windows Update.

  8. In the Install or uninstall display languages dialog box, choose Browse and locate the appropriate LP.CAB file in the specified language folder on the Language Pack DVD.

Once the Language Pack is installed, you must also install the packages located in the _Common folder on the Language Pack DVD. The language resources for these features are not contained in the LP.CAB file in step 7.

Important

You must also re-apply any installed packages after installing a Language Pack.

Install Language Resources

  1. To install language resources, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

  2. Select Yes to allow changes to this computer in the User Account Control dialog box.

  3. Change to the drive that contains the Language Pack DVD.

  4. Change directory to the _Common folder:

    cd\_Common

  5. Use the following command for each cab file located in this folder:

    DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:<name of cab file>

    Important

You have to run this command once for each package; for example, this could be up to 33 commands if you install all packages in the _Common folder.

    Important

If you have removed any packages to minimize image footprint, you must skip them during this step and install them offline. For more information about how to install packages offline, see Add and Remove POSReady 7 Features.

  6. When all packages in the _Common folder of the Language Pack DVD have been applied, you must restart the computer to complete the installation process.
