GetColumnSQLVARIANTLength Method

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The GetColumnSQLVARIANTLength method retrieves the number of bytes required to hold the data portion of the specified sql_variant column.

Syntax

object.GetColumnSQLVARIANTLength( Row, Column, ObjName)as Long

Parts

  • object
    Expression that evaluates to an object in the Applies To list.

  • Row
    Long integer that identifies a row by ordinal position.

  • Column
    Long integer that identifies a column by ordinal position.

  • ObjName
    String that specifies a table or view name.

Note

If an application calls GetColumnSQLVARIANTLength on an instance of SQL Server version 7.0, the constant, SQLDMO_E_SQL80ONLY, and the message "This property or method requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or later" are returned.
