GetColumnBigInt Method

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The GetColumnBigInt method retrieves the contents of a bigint column as a string.

Syntax

object
.GetColumnBigInt(
Row
,
Column
)
as
String

Parts

  • object
    Expression that evaluates to an object in the Applies To list.
  • Row
    Long integer that identifies a row by ordinal position.
  • Column
    Long integer that identifies a column by ordinal position.

Prototype (C/C++)

HRESULT GetColumnBigInt(
long lRow,
long lColumn,
PLONGLONG pRetVal);

Remarks

The Row and Column Parameters are 1-based in Microsoft Visual Basic applications, and zero-based in C++ applications.

Note

For the C++/C interface, the return data type is LONGLONG, which maps to the SQL Server bigint data type. For the OLE automation interface, the return data type is BSTR because the automation interface does not support the 64 bit bigint data type.

Note

If an application calls GetColumnBigInt on an instance of SQL Server version 7.0, the constant, SQLDMO_E_SQL80ONLY, and the message "This property or method requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or later" are returned.
