How to: Select the Predictable Mining Columns

On the Column Mapping tab of the Mining Accuracy Chart tab of Data Mining Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio, you can choose which mining models to include when the designer builds the lift chart on the Lift Chart tab. By default, all the models in the mining structure are selected, but you can choose not to include a model by clearing the check box for the model in the Show column.

By either including or excluding a value for the predictable column of the model, you can create two types of charts. If you include a Predict Value, you will see a chart that shows how much lift the model provides. If you do not include a Predict Value, you will see a chart that shows how accurate the model is. For more information about the difference between the two types of charts, see Lift Chart.

To select the predictable mining columns

  1. On the Column Mapping tab of the Mining Accuracy Chart tab of Data Mining Designer, under Select predictable mining model columns to show in the lift chart, select a predictable column for each model, from the list in the Predictable Column Name column.

The mining model columns that are listed in the Predictable Column Name box are restricted to columns that have the usage type set to Predict or Predict Only, and where the mining structure column on which this mining column is based has a content type of Discrete or Discretized.

  2. If you want to determine the lift for a model, select a value for the model from the Predict Value list.
