How to: Display the Object Explorer Details Page
When an item is selected in Object Explorer, SQL Server Management Studio presents information about that object in a document window called the Object Explorer Details page. You can configure SQL Server Management Studio to display the Object Explorer Details page automatically when Management Studio starts, or not display the Object Explorer Detail page to save time.
The Object Explorer Details page displays information about the currently selected node of Object Explorer. When in list mode, the Object Explorer Details page can show information about higher nodes by clicking the Up button, and lower nodes by double-clicking an element.
The Object Explorer Details page can be displayed at any time by pressing F7.
To display or not display the Object Explorer Details page
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Environment/General page, in the At startup box, select Open Object Explorer to display the Object Explorer Details page when SQL Server Management Studio opens. Any other setting does not display the Object Explorer Details page.
