How to: Define, Rename, Modify, or Delete a Diagram using Data Source View Designer
You use Business Intelligence Development Studio to define, modify, rename, or delete a data source view diagram in an Analysis Services project or database.

In Business Intelligence Development Studio, open the project or connect to the database that contains the data source view in which you want to define a new diagram.

In Solution Explorer, expand the Data Source Views folder, then open the data source view in Data Source View Designer by doing one of the following:

Double-click the data source view.

Right-click the data source view and click Open.
-
Click the data source view and then on the View menu, click Open.

Double-click the data source view.

Define a name for a new diagram by doing one of the following:
-
Right-click anywhere in the Diagram Organizer pane, click New Diagram, and then type a name for the new diagram in the Diagram Organizer pane.

On the Data Source View menu, click New Diagram, and then type a name for the new diagram in the Diagram Organizer pane.

On the Data Source View Designer toolbar, click New Diagram, and then type a name for the new diagram in the Diagram Organizer pane.
A blank diagram appears in the Diagram pane.

Right-click anywhere in the Diagram Organizer pane, click New Diagram, and then type a name for the new diagram in the Diagram Organizer pane.

Add tables, views, and named queries from the Tables pane to the new diagram by doing one of the following:

Drag selected tables from the Tables pane into the empty Diagram pane.

Right-click an open area of the Diagram pane, click Show Tables, select one or more tables to display in the Diagram pane and click OK.

On the Data Source View menu, click Show Tables, select one or more tables to display in the Diagram pane and click OK.

Right-click a table in the Diagram pane, and then click Show Related Tables.

Click a table in the Diagram pane, and then click Show Related Tables.

Drag selected tables from the Tables pane into the empty Diagram pane.

Optionally, add new tables or views to the new diagram and to the <All Tables> diagram. For more information on how to add tables and views, see How to: Add or Remove Tables or Views in a Data Source View Using Data Source View Designer.

Optionally, add new named queries to the new diagram and to the <All Tables> diagram. For more information on how to add named queries, see How to: Add, View, Modify, or Delete a Named Query Using Data Source View Designer.

Save the modified data source view by doing one of the following:

On the File menu, click Save Selected Items or Save All.

On the Data Source View Designer toolbar, click Save Selected Items or Save All.

Close the Data Source View Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio and then click Save when prompted.

On the File menu, click Save Selected Items or Save All.

In the Diagram Organizer pane in Business Intelligence Development Studio, click the diagram from which you wish to remove a table, named query, or view.

In the Diagram pane, select the tables, views or named queries that you wish to remove from the selected diagram and then do one of the following:

Right-click one of the selected objects and then click Hide Table.

On the Data Source View menu, click Hide Table.
Removing tables from a diagram does not remove them from the data source view. However, deleting tables from a diagram deletes the table from the data source view itself.

Right-click one of the selected objects and then click Hide Table.

In Business Intelligence Development Studio, open the project or connect to the database that contains the data source view in which you want to rename a diagram.

In Solution Explorer, expand the Data Source Views folder, then open the data source view in Data Source View Designer by doing one of the following:

Double-click the data source view.

Right-click the data source view and click Open.
-
Click the data source view and then on the View menu, click Open.

Double-click the data source view.

Rename the diagram by doing one of the following:

In Business Intelligence Development Studio, open the project or connect to the database that contains the data source view in which you want to delete a diagram.

In Solution Explorer, expand the Data Source Views folder, then open the data source view in Data Source View Designer by doing one of the following:

Double-click the data source view.

Right-click the data source view and click Open.
-
Click the data source view and then on the View menu, click Open.
-
Double-click the data source view.

Delete the diagram by doing one of the following:
-
In the Diagram Organizer pane, right-click the diagram that you wish to delete, click Delete and then click OK in the Delete Objects pane.

In the Diagram Organizer pane, click the diagram that you wish to delete, click Delete on the Data Source View Designer toolbar and then click OK in the Delete Objects pane.

In the Diagram Organizer pane, right-click the diagram that you wish to delete, click Delete and then click OK in the Delete Objects pane.

Save the modified data source view by doing one of the following:

On the File menu, click Save Selected Items or Save All.

On the Data Source View Designer toolbar, click Save Selected Items or Save All.
-
Close the Data Source View Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio and then click Save when prompted.

On the File menu, click Save Selected Items or Save All.
