Why Import a Catalog?

For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.

If you work with trading partners, you may need to import catalogs. You many also need to import catalogs if the catalogs were created on a different computer system and you want to import them onto your system. You can import catalogs on a "when needed" basis, or you can import catalogs on a regular schedule. You import catalogs in XML format.

There are two types of import that you can perform:

  • Incremental. If the catalog you are importing already exists in the Catalog System, Commerce Server updates the existing catalog data. If the catalog does not exist, Commerce Server creates a new catalog.

  • Replace. If the catalog you are importing already exists in the Catalog System, Commerce Server deletes the existing catalog and replaces it with a new catalog. If the catalog does not exist, Commerce Server creates a new catalog.
