Description

Prevents the user from enabling or disabling Active Desktop and from changing the Active Desktop configuration.

When the value of this entry is set to 1, the Web tab in Display in Control Panel is removed. Also, Active Desktop is removed from the menu that appears when the user right-clicks the desktop. As as result, users cannot enable or disable Active Desktop. If Active Desktop is already enabled, users cannot add, remove, or edit Web content or disable, lock, or synchronize Active Desktop components.

This entry stores the setting of the Prohibit changes Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 0.
