The Windows Mail utility is deprecated in Windows® 7.
The publicly documented APIs that are not marked as deprecated or obsolete will continue to function in Windows 7 and Windows Server® 2008 R2. In addition, the users' e-mail (.eml) and news (.nws) files will remain on the computer after it is updated. Users should install Windows Live Mail or another mail product that is able to read .eml and .nws files.
For more information, see Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Application Quality Cookbook on the MSDN Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=150429).
