Assessing Managed Applications on Windows 2000

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Vista

The Windows® Compatibility Evaluator (WCE) enables you to identify issues that relate to the following:

  • Graphical Identification and Authentication (GINA) DLLs

  • Services running in Session 0 in a production environment

  • Application components deprecated in the newer version of the operating system

Evaluating Windows 2000 Managed Applications

You cannot evaluate managed applications on computers running the Microsoft® Windows 2000 operating system. The deprecated component portion of the WCE uses a technology that cannot be enabled for managed applications running on Windows 2000.

How Can I Work Around This Problem?

If you require the evaluation of managed applications, your computers must run Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or newer versions of the operating system.

Note

The WCE can detect issues for unmanaged applications on Windows 2000.
