Setting the Scope for the Root Category

You can add domains of users, user groups, and federated user groups to the scope of the root category. The following procedures describe how to add domains and user groups (internal or federated).

To add a domain to the scope of the root category

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Lync Server 2010, and then click Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Group Chat Admin Tool.

  2. On the File menu, click Manage Users, and then click Add an Active Directory Domain.

  3. In Domains, click the name of the domain that you want to add, and then click OK.

To add a user group to the scope of the root category

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Lync Server 2010, and then click Microsoft Lync Server 2010, Group Chat Admin Tool.

  2. On the File menu, click Manage Users, and then click Add an Active Directory Domain.

  3. In the Add Group to Root Scope dialog box, in the Search For box, type the name or part of the name of the group you want to add, and then click Search.

  4. In the list of names that match your query, click the group that you want to add, and then click OK.
