Parameters

Parameter Required Type Description

Confirm

Optional

System.Management.Automation.SwitchParameter

The Confirm parameter causes the command to pause processing and requires you to acknowledge what the command will do before processing continues. You don't have to specify a value with the Confirm parameter.

DomainController

Optional

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Fqdn

To specify the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the domain controller that writes this configuration change to the Active Directory directory service, include the DomainController parameter on the command. The DomainController parameter is not supported on computers that have the Edge Transport server role installed. The Edge Transport server role writes only to the local ADAM instance.

Enabled

Optional

System.Boolean

Valid input for the Enabled parameter is $true or $false. The default setting is $true. When the Enabled parameter is set to $true, sender reputation is enabled on the computer on which you are running the Set-SenderReputationConfig cmdlet.

ExternalMailEnabled

Optional

System.Boolean

Valid input for the ExternalMailEnabled parameter is $true or $false. The default setting is $true. When the ExternalMailEnabled parameter is set to $true, all messages from unauthenticated connections are passed through sender reputation for processing.

Instance

Optional

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.SystemConfiguration.SenderReputationConfig

The Instance parameter enables you to pass an entire object to the command to be processed. It is mainly used in scripts where an entire object must be passed to the command.

InternalMailEnabled

Optional

System.Boolean

Valid input for the InternalMailEnabled parameter is $true or $false. The default setting is $false. When the InternalMailEnabled parameter is set to $true, all messages from authenticated sender domains that belong to authoritative domains in your enterprise are passed through sender reputation for processing.

OpenProxyDetectionEnabled

Optional

System.Boolean

Valid input for the OpenProxyDetectionEnabled parameter is $true or $false. The default setting is $true. When the OpenProxyDetectionEnabled parameter is set to $true, sender reputation tries to determine whether the sender's address is an open proxy by connecting to the originating IP address.

ProxyServerName

Optional

System.String

Use the ProxyServerName parameter to specify the name of your organization's proxy server. Sender reputation uses this parameter to connect to the Internet.

ProxyServerPort

Optional

System.Int32

Use the ProxyServerPort parameter to specify the port number for your organization's proxy server. Sender reputation uses this parameter to connect to the Internet.

ProxyServerType

Optional

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.SystemConfiguration.ProxyType

Valid input for the ProxyServerType parameter is None, Socks4, Socks5, HttpConnect, HttpPost, Telnet, Cisco, or Wingate. Use the ProxyServerType parameter to specify the type of proxy server that your organization runs. Sender reputation uses this parameter to connect to the Internet. The default setting is None.

SenderBlockingEnabled

Optional

System.Boolean

Valid input for the SenderBlockingEnabled parameter is $true or $false. The default setting is $true. When the SenderBlockingEnabled parameter is set to $true, Sender reputation blocks senders whose sending system fails an open proxy test. If you enable the SenderBlockingEnabled parameter, you must also enable the OpenProxyDetectionEnabled parameter. You can block senders for a configurable number of hours by using the SenderBlockingPeriod parameter.

SenderBlockingPeriod

Optional

System.Int32

The SenderBlockingPeriod parameter defines the number of hours that senders whose originating IP address fails the open proxy test will be put on the blocked senders list. The default value is 24. You must enter an integer between 0 and 48.

SrlBlockThreshold

Optional

System.Int32

This parameter takes an integer value between 0 and 9. This value represents the sender reputation level (SRL) rating that sender reputation applies to the message. The default setting is 9.

WhatIf

Optional

System.Management.Automation.SwitchParameter

The WhatIf parameter instructs the command to simulate the actions that it would take on the object. By using the WhatIf parameter, you can view what changes would occur without having to apply any of those changes. You don't have to specify a value with the WhatIf parameter.

Example

The following code example shows a Set-SenderReputationConfig command that makes the following modifications to the sender reputation configuration:

  • It sets the SRL threshold to 6.

  • It sets the sender reputation action to block all senders whose SRL rating exceeds the SRL threshold.

  • It sets the number of hours that senders are put on the blocked senders list to 36 hours.

Set-SenderReputationConfig -SrlBlockThreshold 6 -SenderBlockingEnabled:$true -SenderBlockingPeriod 36
